Point of View

Outside-In: My GTM Philosophy

I start with the business outcome, not the technology.

Buyer-first, not pitch-first. Most technology sales start with an internal narrative and work outward to find a buyer. I start with a deep understanding of what a CxO is actually measured on, and work inward to orchestrate technology capabilities into solutions that deliver those outcomes.
Meet the customer where they are, not where you are. I've applied that outside-in discipline across five technology waves:
Cloud → Digital Transformation → CX Design → SaaS → AI
But regulated industries add another dimension: adoption isn't just a buying decision — it's a governance decision.
Here's the throughline. Across every business I've built or repositioned, the work is the same:
1Identify target
buyer business
priorities
→
2Translate business
outcomes into
technology solutions
→
3Build commercial models that enable adoption

The Repeatable Move

“The technology changes. The playbook doesn't.”

The Governance Question

A CFO isn't only asking, “Does this work?” They're asking, “Can I defend this to a regulator, an auditor, a board?”

Consulting Leadership

Shaping Vertical Practices as Markets Shift

Practice builder from the ground up. At EMC, KPMG, and Accenture Interactive, I built and scaled Financial Services practices, defining the strategy, offerings, and go-to-market model from scratch each time. Three practices, three different starting points, the same outcome.
Trusted advisor to strategic relationships. As the Digital Lead across strategic clients, I advised C-level decision makers on transformation strategy and future-state operating models, with direct accountability for some of each firm's largest Financial Services relationships. That access was earned through the work, not assigned alongside a title.
Integration and innovation, side by side. I led the post-M&A integration of new capabilities and teams into existing practices, synchronizing delivery methods, GTM, and client relationships around a single model. At Brillio, that same builder's mindset launched new service lines, including a Silicon Valley design studio and a full-stack digital solutions practice.

The Common Thread

"The market opportunity shifts each time; the mandate doesn't — create what isn't there, earn the trust to lead it, and own the execution that delivers results."

Commercial Leadership

Operating Across Silos

From strategy to the number. As acting CRO and VP of Solutions, I've owned revenue organizations end to end: planning, pipeline, deal execution, and growth. I use a three-horizon model to connect annual forecasting and budgeting to a three-year strategic plan, calibrated for AI-speeds in today's market. Pipeline governance sits underneath every number.
Building the machine underneath it. Real pipeline health isn't just personal discipline — it's organizational. At Brillio, I built a SalesOps/RevOps backbone (quota design, territory alignment, process discipline) and a Sales Excellence Transformation program built with McKinsey.
Rigor at the deal level. Forecasts only hold up if the deals underneath them do. I combine rigorous pipeline governance with disciplined deal and stakeholder management, so what's in the forecast is real, not aspirational.

Three Motions, One Number

"New-logo acquisition and expansion, plus the partnerships and alliances that extend reach globally — the combination that delivers strong bookings and ARR growth."

Practical AI Experience

Ground Truth, Not Hype Cycle

Formal grounding. Completed Northwestern Kellogg's executive program on AI Strategies for Business Transformation, not a credential for its own sake, but the same discipline I bring to every technology wave: get formally grounded before I claim a point of view.
Applied in the field. At Workiva, I championed AI commercialization strategy for Financial Services: AI-assisted regulatory reporting, predictive financial intelligence, and human-governed workflow modernization for CFO transformation. That's where the human-in-the-loop conviction was built, not assumed.
Current practice. My advisory work today is AI-first: market-entry strategy for a VC-backed AI-native fintech startup, an AI-accelerated productized offering that shifted a consulting firm's model from services fees to recurring, IP-driven revenue, and AI governance design for an early-stage digital asset platform.

Human in the loop, by design

"Agentic AI can automate most of a regulated process — but the human certification step before something goes to a regulator has to stay. That's not caution for its own sake. It's governance discipline."

Approach & Values

How I Operate

Practitioner to Operator. I started my career close to customers and kept that instinct — a practitioner's focus on what customers value, rigorous execution, and measurable outcomes.
Builder through disruption. 20 years building and scaling Financial Services businesses, translating emerging technology into commercial opportunity with the conviction to act quickly.
Strategy, hands-on. Strategy only works if people can execute it. I get into the work, build capability, and equip teams to succeed on their own.

Strategy, Hands-On: In Practice

"The rep saw a $125K deal. I saw a multi-year, multi-million-dollar platform pursuit hiding inside it — because it fit the GTM strategy we'd just built together. Once he brought it to me, coaching him on how to position and orchestrate it was the easy part."

Leadership Style

A Composite of Four Styles

Servant Leadership

Situational
Servant Leadership — the anchor. My core, dominant style. Every other mode is a situational adjustment on top of it, not a replacement for it.
Transformational, Adaptive, Participative — applied situationally. Dialed up or down depending on what the moment and the team actually need.
The governing logic — influence, not authority. Most of my career has run through matrixed organizations. You don't get to fall back on a title.

Situational fluency

"Early in my career, as a consultant, I had to earn trust with credibility and expertise, not formal authority — every few months, a new project, a new team, a new client. That adaptability became muscle memory."

Leadership in Practice

How I Show Up for Teams

Vision, Backed by Integrity

Consistently described as a dynamic strategic leader with real vision and insight, someone whose experience and integrity earned trust from teams and clients alike, not just one or the other.

Design Leader

Simplifies Complexity, Mentors People

Feedback on managing large, complex enterprise programs points to two things at once: strong execution at the account-management level, and a genuine mentor who worked alongside coworkers to help them produce their best work, not just direct it.

Senior Project Manager

Domain Expertise, Pragmatically Applied

Described as combining deep domain expertise with pragmatic execution, the kind of pairing that actually moves the needle rather than staying theoretical.

Recent Engagements

Market Entry Strategy

For a top-tier venture capital firm evaluating an AI-native fintech's expansion into fund reporting, I led a workshop mapping buyer pain points, decision authority, and channel strategy across public and private funds, drawing directly on my experience scaling Workiva's fund reporting offering. The result: a structured GTM roadmap that gave the firm and its portfolio company a clear basis for a market-entry decision.

Commercial Transformation

A legacy staff-augmentation firm engaged me to redesign its GTM offering for CFO buyers, at a moment when clients were beginning to build AI solutions in-house rather than buy services. I diagnosed the underlying gap (a lack of productized, reusable IP) and proposed pairing AI agents with the firm's existing methodology to shift the model from services fees toward recurring, IP-driven revenue.

Product & Platform Strategy

A privately owned community bank engaged me to help bridge traditional banking with the digital asset economy through deposit tokenization. I briefed the Head of Product on Financial Services reporting requirements across Treasury, Controller, and Risk, delivering a state-of-the-industry point of view that directly informed product and roadmap prioritization.

Company Formation

The founder of an early-stage digital asset infrastructure platform asked me to assess the company's go-to-market readiness and commercial operating model. I ran an end-to-end strategic assessment, refining the institutional GTM strategy and shaping the executive leadership structure, delivering an objective view of the company's readiness to scale institutionally.

30 Days

Diagnose & Align

  • Audit the real pipeline, forecast methodology, and win/loss patterns against actual bookings and margin, not the narrative version.
  • Review the product/technology roadmap against where the market and regulatory environment are actually heading, not where the roadmap assumes they're heading.
  • Structured 1:1s across the full commercial organization and its cross-functional partners (product, marketing, delivery, finance) to surface what's actually working versus what's assumed to be working.
  • Direct engagement with the accounts and partners driving the majority of current revenue, independent of any single pursuit.
  • Assess team capability and org design against the commercial motion the business actually needs to run.

Output: Baseline assessment covering commercial health, team capability, and market position

"Evidence over assumption."

60 Days

Prioritize & Prove

  • Draft the first version of the commercial architecture, pricing, packaging, and the case that gets a regulated buyer to yes.
  • Attach directly to 1–2 live pursuits to pressure-test the thesis under real market conditions.
  • Narrow to a small number of highest-conviction plays, evaluated using a structured Solution Definition Canvas covering fit, market value, competitive position, and delivery readiness, not internal politics.
  • Pilot a pricing or packaging change on a live deal to test real buyer reaction before a full rollout.
  • Establish or repair the operating cadence with the partner ecosystem where the leverage actually sits.
  • Identify and address the single biggest structural blocker to velocity: approval chains, tooling, or comp misalignment.
  • Build the first enablement asset, a one-pager or talk track, the team can start using immediately.

Output: A market-tested GTM thesis, validated by at least one live pursuit, plus a draft commercial architecture

"Proof over promises."

90 Days

Commit & Launch

  • Stand up forecasting and pipeline governance discipline — rigor at the deal level, not just the roll-up.
  • Formalize the strategy and resourcing ask, grounded in 60 days of evidence rather than day-one theory.
  • Launch the first external proof points, reference accounts, early wins, to build market momentum.
  • Establish a recurring executive or board reporting rhythm tied to the metrics that now actually matter.
  • Align leadership on a multi-horizon plan rather than a single-quarter commitment.
  • Set hiring or team-structure changes in motion, based on the capability gaps identified in the first 60 days.

Output: Approved strategy, working forecast discipline, first external proof points

"Just the end of the beginning."

Day 91+

Scale & Institutionalize

  • Codify what worked into repeatable plays and enablement, not tribal knowledge held by one team.
  • Keep the governance and regulatory posture ahead of scale, rather than catching up to it after growth.
  • Evolve the commercial model as the business matures, toward platform and expansion motions.
  • Expand the partner or channel model beyond the initial pilot relationships.
  • Build durable external presence and category credibility.
  • Formalize a customer advisory board or reference council to sustain market credibility.
  • Revisit and refresh the multi-year vision annually as the market and technology keep shifting.

"Activate for scale."
